About

Foxcross Pottery opened in the early 1970s with Delbert (Del) Martin at the wheel.

Del retired in 2015. The studio sat dormant until May 2019 when Del’s son, Dirk, left a career in teaching to pursue pottery full-time.

You may remember Dirk as that cute kid tearing around on his bicycle outside the gallery, eagerly selling sculpted dinosaurs to soft-hearted customers or parking cars in the Foxcross lot.

Decades of watching and passively learning from his father are reflected in Dirk’s work. His pieces show incredible potential and we’re excited for you to be a part of watching him grow!

In December 2019, Foxcross Pottery re-opened with Del’s son, Dirk, at the wheel.

Dirk and his partner, Molly, aim to re-create that same rustic and personal experience that Foxcross customers have so enjoyed for more than 40 years, embellished with tasteful modern touches.

Enjoying today's coffee in my new handcrafted mug from Foxcross Pottery! Yesterday, we took a trip to the Foxcross studio to buy more beautiful pieces. Let's just say I will be placing many future orders, from much needed dishware to gorgeous lamps, flower pots and more! Created locally in Sharpsburg, Md.
